HOW TO CHOOSE A QUALITY INSTRUCTOR
Choice of correct instructors make a difference in the success of your programme. Instructors can motivate you to train and exercise and make sure you are pursuing a programme that will accomplish your desired goals. To achieve your aim, choose an instructor who has a solid grounding in exercise science and motivating personality. When you are shopping for an instructor use the following questions as a base.
1. Does the taekwondo instructor have a solid background in taekwondo, exercise physiology, anatomy, injury prevention and monitoring of exercise intensity?
2. Does the instructor keep current with research through association membership and educational events? The taekwondo industry is changing all the time and instructors need to update their knowledge regularly to provide you with timely and comprehensive information.
3. Does the instructor help you set safe and realistic goals? A professional will help you set goals you can reasonably achieve..This is important because you are likely to adhere to it.
4. Is the instructor interested in seeing you maintain a well-rounded, healthy lifestyle in addition to the normal training? Your instructor should be able to provide you with information on smart eating, stress management or refer you to other professionals if necessary.
5. Does the instructor exhibit good listening skills and communicate well? If an instructor can't communicate effectively, you won't be able to understand what to do. Your instructor should motivate you by positive, not negative reinforcement. A professional will never make you feel inadequate or incompetent.
6. Is the instructor willing to explain his methods and principles and reasoning behind each technique? You should always know why you are performing certain techniques.
7. Do you feel you get along with your instructor? To have the best working relationship you should like your instructor's personality. Your instructor should be able to motivate you in a way that is meaningful to you. Do you enjoy high-energy intense approach or are you comfortable with a low-energy relaxing style? Interview your instructor to see what approach he would have you.
8. Are you comfortable with your instructor's gender? Some like working with an instructor of the same sex while others prefer the opposite sex. If you are comfortable with your trainer you will get good results
